Mustard Seed Estate & Letting Ltd is committed to complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 in everything we do. This page summarises how we approach data protection; for full details on what data we collect and how we use it, please see our Privacy Policy.
Mustard Seed Estate & Letting Ltd acts as the data controller for personal data relating to landlords, tenants, applicants and website visitors. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration number ZB788696.
We only process personal data where we have a valid lawful basis to do so, including: performance of a tenancy or management contract; compliance with legal obligations (such as Right to Rent checks and deposit protection); legitimate business interests; and consent, where applicable.
Depending on your relationship with us, this may include contact and identification details, property and tenancy information, financial and referencing information, and, in limited cases, special category data required to assess a rental application (for example, information relevant to a guarantor arrangement), which is handled with additional care.
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: request access to your personal data; request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data; request erasure of your data, subject to our legal retention obligations; restrict or object to certain processing; request a copy of your data in a portable format; and complain to the ICO if you believe we have not handled your data correctly.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, including to meet legal and regulatory requirements, and we apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards to protect it against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
Where any of our service providers process data outside the UK, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, in line with UK GDPR requirements for international transfers.
In the unlikely event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the ICO and, where required, affected individuals, in accordance with our legal obligations and within the required timeframes.
If you have any questions about how we process your personal data, or wish to exercise any of your data protection rights, please contact us at info@mustardseedestate.co.uk or call us on 078 5856 6096.
If you remain unsatisfied after contacting us, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
